The Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Center, the only work of art in Spain of this Brazilian architect, is set besides the port facilities, on terrains that used to be part of the port esplanades.

The Center offers a varied artistic programme, guided tours around the complex, selected restaurant and cafeteria services, and it hosts congresses as well.

The Port Authority of Avilés has transferred the operation rights of the fishing market complex to Rula de Avilés. This organism organises guided visits to the fishing complex, showing the visitor the complete selling process of the fish from its arrival at the port until it goes into the consumers’ circuit.

The Port of Avilés has footbridge access that connects the Niemeyer Center to the estuary promenade.

Doors open as follows:

•   Sundays to Thursdays: 10.15 a.m.  to 1.15 a.m.
•   Fridays and Saturdays: 10.15 p.m. to 3.15 a.m.

Beside the Niemeyer Center you may find the St. Augustine South Dock Garden, which is open everyday from 10.15 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., except upon cruises arrival, when access is restricted for cruise passengers.
